A Hero for Every Occasion

The English 12 classes have just concluded their several weeks long projects dealing with heroes.  The project started with the classes reading the epic Beowulf, who many feel is the first action hero of literature.  After reading the epic, the students wrote an essay about what a hero is to them, how Beowulf was a hero, and how the definition of heroes has changed over the course of history.  After defining what a hero is, the students worked in groups to create their own superheroes, and write a short epic poem about them.  You can see pictures of them below.  The students then went on to create a resume and cover letter for the their superhero, then used those skills to create their own cover letter and resume to use when applying for jobs or colleges.  What a long, strange journey it was, but all of the work turned out great and the students were able to show their creativty and inventiveness!
